Abstract

In the second quarter of 2013, shipment volume of the Greater China notebook PC industry reached around 35.9 million units, declining 1.0% sequentially and 17.9% year-on-year. Compared to a 2.2% growth in the worldwide notebook PC market volume during the same period, the backtracked performance of the Greater China notebook PC industry is mainly due to the rise of Chinese manufacturers. Meanwhile, Haswell-powered products failed to sustain the industry's shipment performance since the majority of them were aimed at mid-range and high-end sectors. Looking ahead to the third quarter of 2013, it is projected that the Greater China notebook PC industry will see a 4.6% sequential growth in the third quarter, thanks to the launch of Intel's mid-range Haswell chips and Bay Trail CPU.
